Blog Post 8 Intro

Introduction Species are going extinct at a rapid rate. What if you are the cause of that? Well you may be if you operate a gas powered vehicle or use electricity. Experts estimate that the loss of species is 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate (WWF). Animals are dying faster than anyone had expected. Hinting people are doing something wrong that is altering species way of living causing them to die. Species environment are also becoming unstable do to human activity. Pollution adds chemicals, noise, heat, even light to an environment (ck-12). Causing global warming, habitat destruction and over population. Presentations

A lot of my classmates did a great job with their presentation. They were loud and I could hear them very clearly. To improve presentations probably not staying in one spot. Also not going through the presentation so quickly. Not reading exactly from the board and not facing the board instead of the crowd the entire time. In my presentation I had great information to give in a simple manner. My paragraphs weren't long but i'm sure the class learned something new. I can improve my presentation by not being so nervous and speaking louder? In all the class did a great job!

Why I am Interested in this topic? What I Know?

Research Question : How do humans contribute to animal extinction? Thesis : Humans polluting the environment has triggered animal extinction. I am interested in this topic because I have a love for animals. Animals are like people and they have homes and lives they want to live and we are consciously or unconsciously taking that away from them. What I have learned about the topic is that since we are polluting the air and water etc. Temperatures are rising and causing climate change in various parts of the world, there has also been various losses of animal habitats. With temperatures rising there has also been an increase of natural disasters. I have also learned there are various types of pollution such as noise Pollution as well as light pollution. We are not only affecting our lives by pollution but we are also affecting the lives of many innocent creatures. People who may be interested in my topic are animal sanctuaries or people who genuinely care for animals. Even people w

"Playing For A Change" - Stand By Me

The title tells a lot about what the song is intended to do. He is literally playing for a change in humanity. The video uses elements of Rhetoric to create an argument in a visual way. In order to make the video he needed the equipment to do so. In order to make the video he also needed to find talented musicians, who knew how to play different instruments and sing. He traveled to video people from different countries. They are all connecting to one another through music or this particular song. Everyone who was featured was outside. To emphasize that we are all part of this world, all humans and equal. Everyone was outside to dwell on humbleness. The words that most appealed to me were "Always need somebody to stand by you," and by that he meant someone you know, maybe someone you don't know, or maybe even someone from another country but everyone needs somebody. The images that most impacted me were when he started showing the people and naming the countries from ar

Response to Gerard Jones "Violent Media Is Good For Kids"

Gerard Jones may believe Violent Media is good for kids but his attempt to convince us are just opinions from his viewpoint. He starts of with personal emotions and opinions. The upside to this is that sometimes people may sympathize and connect to his emotions with him. "I suffocated my deepest fears and desires into a young boy persona." He is trying to connect with the reader by letting them know that he couldn't be himself, he had to hide under someone he wasn't and by saying this he is interpreting that he is not the only child out there that isn't aloud to express themselves in a matter in which they want to. "I withdrew into passivity and loneliness." Here he is trying to earn the readers sympathy by letting them know that without being able to express himself he withdrew from others and that can happen to other kids too. Then he uses his mothers student opinion as reference stating they believe comics are actually positive. "One of my mot

College Is A Waste?

Paragraph #1  Thesis Statement " I believe higher education is broken."     This sentence clearly states what position he has taken or what his thoughts are on college education. He firmly states that his position in this essay is that college is a waste of time.  Paragraph #2 & 3 He really basis his evidence on opinion. "I t rewards conformity rather than independence, competition rather than collaboration, regurgitation rather than learning, and theory rather than application. Our creativity, innovation, and curiosity are schooled out of us." " Failure is punished instead of seen as a learning opportunity. We think of college as a steppin g- stone to success rather than a means to gain knowledge. College fails to empower us with the skills necessary to become productive members of today’s global entrepreneurial economy." Paragraph #4  The main evidence is finally provided that really supports the Thesis Statement. " In the bo
